TESTIMONIALS FROM CLIENTS

Hi mate, Just wanted to take a minute to put into words my gratitude and appreciation for the amazing experience I had at the Lakes and Lupins Workshop. I wanted to really sit back and reflect deeply on my experience so that I could give you a well-thought-out and meaningful review. Both you and Lisa were fantastic workshop operators, I learned so much on this trip and for me personally, I felt that it was a really good balance of exploring creative freedom and personal tuition that I received. The editing sessions were particularly valuable for me and I feel that those sessions were easily the most I’ve EVER learned about editing from any editing session including the many hours of YouTube tutorials that I’ve invested time in. Seeing you explain your workflow was incredibly valuable and helped me to get a more consistent approach to how I edit. I’ve come away with quite a few images that I’m REALLY proud of, even the other images I have taken since the workshop have been on another level from what they were previously. This workshop has really helped me to take my photography skills; both taking and editing my images to the next level. I’m very excited about the next workshop I’ve booked with the shoot to print in NSW in March 2023. Oh and as a foodie I can say that the food was equally outstanding, I can’t wait to do another NZ tour (hopefully bag a hoar frost as well). Thanks again, - Jamie

I have been lucky enough to experience 3 of Brett’s workshops with a 4th booked for next Autumn which Covid has delayed twice! He has a passion for photography that is contagious and offers the opportunity to experience locations that are unique, little hidden “gems” that are beautiful and not always well known. His first priority is ensuring his clients are getting “the shots”, often not getting his own camera out, which is refreshing and shows he wants you to walk away with great images. But trust me, if he gets it out shadow this man as what he can show you with how he composes an image is next level. Knowledgeable, friendly, great locations, great accommodation, fun, laid back and stress free, good value for money. If your thinking about doing one, just do it!
These trips are relaxed, well thought out, like travelling with a group of friends as you immediately feel a connection to the other guests.
Can’t wait to do more.

Hi Brett (and Lisa), Just a quick email to thank you both for a wonderful four days. I really appreciated the amount of time and effort that you put in to ensure that the trip was successful and that we had fantastic photographic opportunities. Thank you for your encouragement and support and for broadening my photographic horizon. Your calm and supportive manner made it easy to improve and expand my understanding of composition and image taking. Your hints and tips on editing gave me a great insight on how to develop my techniques for printing. The photographic opportunities you presented were truly breathtaking, I didn't realise that such fantastic scenery was so close by. Your tips on composing images were superb and I will ensure that I use them in the future. Thanks once again, Take care, - Bill

"Brett, I wanted to thank you for organising a great photography tour of NZ's south island. You have a great relaxed way of teaching, patient with novice photographers (that's me) asking the same questions over and over. Helping with settings, filters, composition, etc. There is no doubt from the first photo I took to the last I could see an improvement in my images, even my family said how much I've improved. The accommodation, meals, and transport were all spot on. The locations we visited were widely varied to cover everyone’s interests with options for everyone’s skill and fitness levels. Whilst I haven't done any other tours with Brett, based on the one I have done, I would highly recommend, to anyone looking at doing photography tours, to consider signing up with Brett, he is a fun, engaging, and very professional and relaxed photographer and teacher, with the pricing of the tours extremely affordable."  - Gail

I have recently completed my 4th photography workshop with Brett and now looking at which workshop to book next. Brett has an easy-going approach that ensures everyone gets the most out of each workshop, whether it's their first or fourth. Or whether you are a beginner trying to work out how to use your camera, an experienced photographer or even a professional, you cannot go wrong attending Bretts workshops. I cannot recommend these enough; you won't just learn more about photography and come away with some amazing images but you will have so much fun along the way. Just do it! - Allan

"I’ve been dealing with Brett for the past couple of years and have been impressed with his customer service from the first contact. Brett was originally recommended to me for his knowledge and sales of Nisi filters. As a salesperson, he is very knowledgeable and HONEST. I was super impressed with his service as it’s quite rare these days. Delivery was speedy too. Since then I’ve made numerous purchases, asked plenty of questions and nothing has been too much trouble.
Earlier this year I finally managed to go on one of his NZ photo tours which didn’t disappoint. It’s a bit of a treat to have someone else do all the planning and driving for a trip. Fantastic locations at the right times of day for photographers. Suitable for all levels of photographers. Brett is very generous with his knowledge, guidance, and time. He is there for his clients before his own photography, unlike some other photo tour operators I know.
I would highly recommend Brett and his tours or products to any fellow photographers (and already have)!!!"

So far I’ve done 4 tours with Brett. The first three were Tasmania, The Great Ocean Road, and New Zealand in Autumn.
The fourth and most recent was a private tour of the Snowy Mountains and South Coast of NSW. All were brilliant in regards to organisation, locations, tuition and support onsite, accommodation, and meals. But what really makes them stand out for me is Brett’s knowledge of these areas that he specialises in. He is constantly checking the conditions and adjusting the itinerary accordingly so we have the best opportunity for good photographic conditions.
The last private tour was exceptional. I’ve learned a lot from all of my tours but having that one on one tuition was next level. We were able to focus more on what I specifically wanted to improve on. I’ve grown a lot in my photography over the last few years and I credit a lot of that to Brett.
I’m very much looking forward to the next tour with Brett at Crescent Head in a few weeks and who knows what tour number 6 will be - all I know is that it will happen.
On top of that is the ongoing support that Brett provides to his clients - whether that’s guidance on equipment etc or help with editing, he is always willing to offer
advice. I’ve also done tours with other operators and am confident in saying that Brett’s are my favourite by far. None of the others have provided all of the above at the level that Brett does.
If you are looking for a different photography tour with an experienced, yet laid-back guide, Brett is the one to go to.

“I was travelling to New Zealand for some months in Summer 2020. I love photography and wanted to improve my skills in landscape photography. So I did an internet search for private tours and landed at the beautiful pictures of Brett. I contacted him and we had a short phone call where I could explain what I already did in photography, what I was expecting to learn, and what kind of places I wanted to see. We fixed a concrete week for my tour around a half a year in advance with a start end in Queenstown. Some weeks before the start we talked about the route I wanted to do and he organised the tour. Brett picked me up with his car very early in the morning for the first sunrise shooting. The organisation of the tour was very good, we had a full day schedule from sunrise till late evening with a break during lunchtime. Having good coffee and healthy food is very important for me and I deeply enjoyed Brett's recommended restaurants. The shooting locations were all different and unique and always in perfect light. We were really lucky with the weather and always there in time! Brett always had several options for different locations and I could choose my most favourite place. I learned lots about composition and how to handle filters, learned some new skills in Photoshop, and got some exercise in shooting in different environments like shooting in the water of a gorge. I appreciated that I could do the pictures by myself and that he was so helpful when I wanted him to help. So I got some great pictures. We had nice talks about photography, New Zealand and just about life and it was so refreshing and interesting and we laughed a lot. Unfortunately, I had to leave NZ early because of COVID-19. Brett helped me with his friend to get me flights back to Switzerland and he also gave me a lift back from Wanaka to Queenstown Airport. I am really happy having done this fabulous tour with a fantastic photographer, kind and helpful person. I had one of the best times in New Zealand on this tour and I'm already looking forward to booking another tour one day.” - Jolanda

"I have participated in many others workshops over the past 12 years and I can say Brett’s tours have been my very favourite and the most professionally run, with excellent locations, support. His teaching style is second to none. Brett’s easy going nature makes the experience relaxed, safe and highly enjoyable with many laughs along the way."  - Margaret

"I did a spring tour with Brett in 2016 to New Zealand. All the locations are hand picked by Brett and are all incredible! I loved that he was so easy going, nothing was ever too much for him and he is super helpful over the duration of the tour. The food places he takes you are super tasty and he definitely knows the good coffee shops!!! I 100% recommend Brett’s tours and can’t wait to go on another one!!!"  - Holly

"Went on one of Brett’s photography tours to New Zealand. My first time travelling on my own and meeting up with a tour group so I was a little nervous. From the outset Brett was so welcoming and made everyone feel at ease. Didn’t matter what level your photography skills were (and we were all at different levels). The group dynamics were awesome. The locations were unbelievably stunning and Brett knew exactly where to go to maximise our time on the tour. It was very well structured and for the most part not a tourist in sight, which we all appreciated! I’ve also bought some camera accessories through Brett and he’s always been very quick with delivery and knows his stuff. I look forward to doing a few more photo tours in future and would highly recommend Brett without any hesitation!"  - Sevi

"I loved Brett’s photography tour of Tasmania. The groups are small, I like it that the price includes single accommodation and Brett is a very calm leader who shares his knowledge freely & is always thinking about adapting the locations to suit the weather. I got some great pics despite very average conditions & picked up some valuable knowledge. I highly recommend his tours."  - Heather

"I have been on two of Brett’s photography tours and absolutely loved them! I feel as though my photography has really improved. Strongly recommend anyone looking to improve their ability and skills to jump on one of Brett’s tours."  - James

"I’ve now attended 6 of Brett’s workshops and can highly recommend Brett for anyone looking to improve their photography while enjoying epic locations with like minded people."  - Rob

"I have been on two of Brett's tours and would not hesitate to recommend any of his tours. I feel his layback attitude mixed with his professionalism is a great combination of an enjoyable holiday as well as learning so much along the way.
Location ,meals and accommodation where all great, and look forward to the next time I can join one of his tours."

"I have been on a couple of other photo tours and thought I would try Brett Wood this year as I really admire his style of landscape photography. The tour (mid-May 2018) was excellent in every regard. Great locations, considerate and helpful tuition, good company from the other students, affordable and, as a bonus, plenty of excellent NZ food and drink. I liked his easy-going tuition style and found his recommendations at each site (lenses, filters, etc.) to be particularly useful. I have been to most of the locations on previous occasions but really benefited from seeing them again "with new eyes" under Brett's guidance. Got some great shots that I hope to post in the VIP site in coming weeks. The only improvement that I can think of, Brett, would be to to change your beer brands, Everyone knows Speights is the Pride of the South and rightfully so :)"  - Grant

"My first tour with Brett was to Tasmania, late 2017. It was the first time I had been there and with the places Brett had taken us, it was absolutely beautiful. From start to finish the whole tour was just fantastic, a great bunch of people, awesome time and with Brett’s knowledge it made the trip really worthwhile.
Brett was fantastic in teaching new techniques to all, from camera settings to post production in photoshop, but we all learnt from each other as well. The whole experience was fantastic and I can’t say enough about how amazing the tour with Brett was.
If you haven’t already done one of the amazing tours on offer, then you are missing out. Treat yourself to an amazing discovery of this great world of ours with Brett as your guide. I will be certainly booking another tour and many more to come."
- Evan

"I attended one of Brett's workshops in Tamworth. His easygoing nature, knowledge and enduring patience won me over. I learnt so much that weekend. I would recommend Brett's workshops to anyone."  - Karen
