Five days based in Twizel, right in the heart of the Mackenzie region — my old backyard, and still my favourite part of New Zealand to photograph. From late November, the lupins come into full colour around Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki, set against turquoise water and the snow of the Southern Alps. We'll chase first light on Aoraki/Mount Cook, morning mist at the Church of the Good Shepherd, golden hour at the Clay Cliffs, and a few quiet backcountry spots only locals know about. Small group, two guides, and years of local knowledge that only comes from actually living here.

Fitness — Moderate hiking is involved, with steep inclines and uneven terrain over some longer hikes, so a reasonable level of fitness — plus solid camera fundamentals — will help you keep pace with the group.

Please note: you'll need to arrange your own travel, equipment, and cancellation insurance.
